ENWORKS boosts job creation at Wigan solar firm

A Wigan-based solar photovoltaics (PV) firm, has created a new position in its workforce, following free sales and marketing support from the ENWORKS Green Growth service for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Utilitri’s renewable energy solutions are designed to enhance the value of its clients’ properties, as well as reduce their energy bills and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

The company holds a number of industry accreditations and has already built up a large portfolio of customers through its experienced team, which includes specialist roofing contractors, electrical engineers and customer care staff.

ENWORKS support

To help identify and tackle new barriers to growth, Utilitri invited ENWORKS low carbon advisers to carry out an on-site business review in August 2014.

The advisers specialise in supporting Greater Manchester companies that are either in, or looking to diversify into, the low carbon and environmental goods and services (LCEGS) sector.

New sales

After its review, Utilitri also benefited from ongoing, one-to-one support from its dedicated ENWORKS adviser.
This included sharing market intelligence to help the company identify new sales leads, and help with developing Utilitri’s growth strategy and implementing recommendations.

As a result of the support, one new job has already been created in Utilitri’s workforce, with potential for more as the company continues to develop its sales strategy and generate new sales leads.

‘Positive relationship’

Michael Pilkington, a director at Utilitri, said:

“At Utilitri we are constantly striving for improvement in a challenging and fast moving industry.
With a new position already created after just a month’s worth of support, we are delighted with the ENWORKS low carbon sector programme and look forward to continuing our positive working relationship well into the future.”

Amy Glover, ENWORKS low carbon sector advisor, said:

“Utilitri are an experienced company with a great reputation within the industry and an impressive portfolio of customers.
We are happy to be working with them to provide additional resources to help actively generate new sales leads and ensure that they maximise their potential.”
